How to Get a Fit to Fly Certificate in Turkey
Airline asking for a fit to fly certificate? Here is when you need one, what the doctor checks and how to request it before your flight home.
A fit to fly certificate is a short medical statement from a doctor confirming that you are well enough to travel by air. Airlines do not ask for one from every passenger, but they may require it after a recent illness, surgery or injury, in late pregnancy, or when a condition could get worse during a flight.
When an Airline May Ask for One
Common situations include a recent operation, a broken bone in a cast, a chest infection or pneumonia, a recent heart or lung problem, a recent stroke, a contagious illness such as chickenpox, advanced pregnancy and very young babies. Rules differ between airlines and change over time, so check your airline’s medical clearance page or call its special assistance team before you fly.
What the Doctor Checks
The doctor reviews your diagnosis and treatment, asks how you feel, checks your pulse, blood pressure and oxygen level where an examination is possible, and reads your discharge papers or reports. A certificate is issued only if the doctor judges it safe for you to fly, and it may carry conditions such as oxygen on board, wheelchair assistance or extra legroom.
How to Request One
Message us on WhatsApp or request an appointment, and tell us your airline, flight date and what happened. Send any reports you have. Do not leave it until the day of departure: many airlines want the paperwork 48 hours to several days in advance, so ask early.
A certificate does not guarantee boarding. The final decision always belongs to the airline, and its own rules apply.
