Medical Certificates in Turkey for Travellers: Which One Do You Need?
Fit to fly, fit to exercise, bed rest or insurance claim: an overview of the medical certificates travellers ask for in Turkey and how to request them.
A medical certificate is a short document signed by a doctor that states what was found at an examination and what the doctor advises. Travellers ask for several kinds, and the right one depends on who will read it.
Common Types
A bed rest report supports time off work, school or a tour. A fit to fly report confirms that you are well enough to board a flight, and some airlines have their own MEDIF forms. A fitness-to-exercise report is requested by gyms, diving schools and sports camps. An insurance medical report describes your illness or injury for a claim. A vaccination or treatment letter confirms what you were given and when.
What the Doctor Needs
A certificate is based on a consultation. The doctor must be able to assess you, and sometimes that means an examination, an ECG or a blood test. The doctor will not certify something that cannot be assessed, and can decline if the certificate is not appropriate for your condition.
Language and Format
Certificates can be written in English. If an airline, insurer or institution has its own form, send it to us in advance so the doctor can complete it. Some authorities, such as courts, immigration offices and employers abroad, insist on specific wording or certified translations, so check with them first.
How to Request
Message us on WhatsApp or request a video visit, and tell us what the certificate is for, who will read it and the date you need it. We will tell you whether the doctor can issue it remotely or whether an in-person visit is needed.
